Plansee

Located on the scenic route connecting Garmisch-Partenkirchen via Ettal with Reutte in Tyrol, the lake is a highlight of any journey through the region.

The road follows the northern shoreline of the lake, winding gracefully along the water’s edge and offering constantly changing views of crystal-clear waters and the imposing mountain peaks that rise directly from the shore.

At the eastern end of the lake, visitors will find the small settlement of Plansee, home to a lakeside hotel and restaurant offering stunning views across the water.

During the warmer months, a kiosk near the lake provides refreshments and a convenient stop to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Take a moment to stop at one of the many viewpoints along the northern shore. On calm days, the surrounding mountains are beautifully reflected in the lake's turquoise waters.

With depths reaching almost 80 meters, Plansee is the second-largest natural lake in Tyrol and is renowned for its exceptionally clear water, often compared to that of alpine mountain lakes much higher in the Alps.
