Fort Breendonk
Fort Breendonk was originally build as part of a larger defence around Antwerp before WW1. During WW2 it was used by the Nazi regime and they did some chilling activities here. It is well worth to use the audio tour. It will make you speechless.

Fort Rammekens
Old fortress dating back to 1547. It used to have a very important role in the maritime history of the county Zeeland. It is very interesting and the volunteers can tell a lot about it.

Walvisbunker
Locals call it the Walvisbunker. Dutch for Whale bunker. The name was given due to its unique structure. It was a very important commando centre of the Nazi regime during WW2 and pretty much a one of a kind (unique bunker). In the area there are a very large amount of Nazi structures still present. Many can been freely explored, others are open on certain days or after making an appointment. It is an impressive building and area. Well worth some exploration. Due bare in mind, you can park close by, but after fences, motorised vehicles are not allowed. You have to go on foot.

Working Island Neeltje Jans
This is the working island Neeltje Jans. After the storm surge of 1953, The Netherlands decided to build a massive system of barriers to protect this fragile part of the country. They developed specialist ships and other equipment to realize the massive storm surge barrier. The pillars have been build within this "harbour". They made one extra, which wasn't needed in the end and is still standing as a silent witness. The others have been placed to realize the impressive storm surge barrier. An enginering marvel!

Watersnoodmuseum
Lovely museum about the deadly storm surge of 1953. The museum is build inside WW2 caissons that weren't used during the war, but very useful to close a broken dike on this very spot. They stayed here and in time the museum was build inside them. Well worth a visit.

Really good campsite. They also have all kinds of accommodations and a nice restaurant. Inside the main building you'll be able to find a professional washing machine and drying next to the sanitair.
