Praia Fluvial da Albufeira do Vilar
With the construction of the Vilar Dam, the retained waters of the Távora River were transformed into an immense reservoir. The site is excellent for tourism, featuring a river beach and areas for extreme sports, a bar with terraces, plenty of shade, street furniture, and an innovative camping and caravanning park.

River Beach Loriga
The scenery around Loriga River Beach is simply wonderful. The beach, which is basically a series of small river pools, is situated in a glacial valley and surrounded by imposing mountains that make us feel so small. The water that feeds the pools comes from the Loriga River and is so clear and crystalline that it makes us wonder if we are in more tropical latitudes. However, a single dip is enough to confirm that we are in the heart of the Serra da Estrela mountain range. Despite the cold water, this is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful river beaches in Portugal.

Praia Fluvial da Congida
It is situated on the banks of the Douro River, near the border with Spain, with the Douro International Natural Park as a backdrop. Among the supporting infrastructure, we highlight the inviting riverside bar, the floating river pool, the children's playground, the municipal swimming pools, and the embarkation pier for tourist excursions along the Douro River. Unmissable.

Praia Fluvial da Ribeira do Azibo
The beach itself is excellent. The water is super clean and it has all the necessary infrastructure to spend a five-star day (or several) with the family. Besides the usual water sports, you can also enjoy pleasant walks or bike rides around the Azibo reservoir in a protected area. And right next door, as a bonus, is the equally wonderful Fraga da Pegada beach.

Vilarinho da Furna
In the 1970’s, the Portuguese Government decided to build a dam in Vilarinho da Furna, a former village of Campo do Gerês. As a result, the town was deserted and largely submerged, leaving just a few ruins remaining. During the warmer months of the year, when the dam doesn't have as much water, what's left of Vilarinho da Furna is accessible to visitors, who can roam through its "streets" and imagine what life must've been like in this now-extinct village. With decent roads leading to the dam and a small dirt path that continues on to the actual site of Vilarinho da Furna, this is a really unique and easily accessed attraction within the park.
To learn more about the town and the traditions and customs of the people of Gerês, you can also pay a quick visit to the nearby Ethnographic Museum.

Vilarinho de Negrões
Nestled in the heart of Montalegre, Vilarinho De Negrões is a quaint village that offers visitors a delightful escape into the natural beauty of Portugal. This picturesque location is famous for its stunning landscapes, characterized by rolling hills, lush greenery, and the serene waters of the nearby reservoir. The village itself is a treasure trove of traditional architecture, with stone houses and narrow cobbled streets that evoke a sense of timeless charm. As you walk through the village, you will encounter friendly locals eager to share stories about their way of life and the rich history of the region. Vilarinho De Negrões is also known for its vibrant culture, with various festivals and events held throughout the year that celebrate local traditions, music, and gastronomy. I usually visit this place 2 or 3 times per year, its a great place for some water play with the family! Picnic, towels in the sand, some swimming, i just love it!

Praia Fluvial do Vale do Rossim
The Vale do Rossim River Beach is set in an artificial lagoon, located in Penhas Douradas, in the very heart of Serra da Estrela. It is the highest river beach in Portugal, situated at an altitude of 1,437 meters. Classified as a Gold Quality Beach, don’t miss the chance to swim or enjoy some water activities in these crystal-clear waters. It can truly be considered one of the best beaches in Serra da Estrela. So, what are you waiting for? Put on your swimsuit and come enjoy the pristine waters of Serra da Estrela. Around the river beach, you’ll be charmed by a small sandy area bordering the blue lagoon, perfectly harmonized with the wild nature surrounding it. Besides fantastic swims or water sports you can enjoy here, don’t hesitate to take some hikes nearby and get to know the Upper Plateau of Serra da Estrela better. If you enjoy hiking, one recommended trail connects Vale do Rossim to Nave da Mestra. It’s a demanding 14-kilometer walk, but it’s well worth it to discover the Vale das Éguas, take in the privileged views of Penhas Douradas, and cross the famous Talisca da Mestra crevice.
